Welcome to Karma Totes

At Karma Totes, every bag starts with a woman rewriting her story.

We keep things simple, featuring timeless designs, natural fabrics, and the belief that fashion should feel good both inside and outside.

Our totes are handcrafted by women from underserved communities, using sustainable materials and traditional textile techniques. With every stitch, these women develop skills, earn fair pay, and take steps toward a brighter, more independent future.

We keep things simple, featuring timeless designs, natural fabrics, and the belief that fashion should feel good both inside and out.

Why Choose Us

The Karma Behind Every Tote

You’re looking for products that speak for themselves, are well-made, beautifully designed, and made with heart. At Karma Totes, we get that.

Our bags do more than carry things. They hold stories of women finding independence, of heritage craft being kept alive, of thoughtful design meeting everyday life.

You won’t find loud branding or empty promises here. Consciously crafted totes that feel as good to carry as they look.

Less plastic. More purpose. And a little more meaning with every use.

Our Journey

From a quiet idea to a movement with purpose.

Karma Totes began with a simple vision: to replace plastic with something meaningful, a handcrafted bag that honors both the Earth and the women who shape it.

Anu, our founder, felt deeply connected to nature and the resilience of women around her. After years in the corporate world, she returned to her roots with a clear purpose: to create something beautiful that would restore dignity, preserve craft, and make an impact.

Karma’s first bags were made from canvas, jute, and handloom fabric — natural materials brought to life by women artisans gaining financial independence through skilled, honest work.

What started small is now a growing movement.

One bag. One woman. One conscious choice.

Karma is still unfolding, and you are part of the story

Founder's Story

Why I Started Karma Totes

At Karma Totes, my vision is to create fashion that feels good—for you, for the women who create it, and for the planet.

I have always been drawn to things that feel genuine — the rhythm of nature, the beauty of handmade work, and the silent strength of women who uphold families and communities, often without recognition.

After earning two master’s degrees, crossing two continents, and spending twenty years in the corporate world, I had built a life I was proud of. Yet quiet restlessness kept pulling at me, a desire for something more rooted, more personal.

In 2023, I returned to my hometown of Hyderabad, India. This move was not just a relocation, but a reconnection with something more profound: the Earth, the women I admired growing up, and the belief that meaningful work can also be beautiful.

I didn’t have a detailed business plan. I only had a simple vision - to create something authentic, handcrafted, eco-friendly, and empowering for the women who make it.

That’s how Karma Totes was born.

I’ll never forget observing one of our artisans stitch our first tote, noticing the careful precision of her needlework, the patience in her movements, and the quiet pride shining in her eyes. In that moment, I understood she wasn’t just making a bag; she was weaving her story into it.

Karma Totes has grown since then, but that first moment remains clear in my mind. It’s why I am committed to its ongoing journey. Every bag we send out into the world isn't just about the product inside, it's a small package of strength, dignity, and good karma going to a new home.

Thank you for being part of this journey.

Anu
